Obituary

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The family of H. Tom Bowen sadly announce his passing on April 11, 2021; he was 72 years old. Tom leaves his wife of 54 years Joyce Walker. He was predeceased by his parents Pansy and Harry Bowen and by his in-laws Bill and Vida Walker. He will be sadly missed by his sons Mark (Gail Scott) and Mathew; and by his granddaughters Victoria, Elizabeth and Olivia. Tom was blessed by his siblings Fred (Sue), Bonnie Ridi (John), Rick (Kathy), Randy, Danny "Bubba" and Christopher (Joanne). He also leaves his aunts and uncles Frances Merriman (Dave) and Joan Boisvert (Andy). Tom was so very proud of his nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his infant niece, Melissa Bowen and by his cousin Kevin Merriman.
Tom joined the Army at 17 years of age for three years. He then became a paramedic until failing health caused him to retire from the work that he truly loved. Tom was also associated with Youth For Christ for a number of years.
Special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Brockville General Hospital who were all so good to Tom. Your kindness will never be forgotten. To all those who prayed for us, we will be forever grateful. "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."
Private arrangements have been made.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to your favourite charity would be gratefully acknowledged.
Tom was my oldest male first cousin whom I always loved and always respected! It was a shock to lose him far too soon! But because of his trust and faith in Christ I know this is not an end! Joyce you have been a wonderful partner for Tom and mother to Mark and Matthew! God bless you and may the Creator continue to walk beside through the valley of death and the shadows it casts! May He carry you when you feel you can’t go on! Joyce you and your family remain in our thoughts and prayers! Stephen and Sharon
I wish to express my condolences to the family of Tom. Tom took my under his wing and watch out for me so many years ago when I started as a young paramedic. He was a leading part of a fine group of men that were welcoming to the first woman to intrude into what was then an all male domain. Tom was partnered with me many of the years we both worked on the ambulances for Brockville General Hospital.
