The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Julius Olender can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

John Janiga

Our deepest sympathy to Barbra and Theresa. My memory of Julius goes back to mid 60’s when I first met my uncle Julius, although he was a year younger. My grandmother and his father were brother and sister. He didn’t like to be called uncle at thirteen, who would? We had some fun back then going hiking together with Eddy Nowak and roasting hot dogs over open fire under the Hamilton escarpment. I came from Poland and didn’t speak English back then but Julius and Eddy knew some Polish so we communicated quite well and they tried to teach me some English but it was mostly the words I didn’t need to know, what I realized some time later. Julius loved playing lacrosse, the sport I did not know since I grew up playing soccer. He tried teaching me but I had trouble catching the hard little ball in this little net on a long stick and throwing it back to him. I was much better at kicking a much larger soccer ball. Later on Julius was an usher at my wedding to Ursula in 1973. After that time we all started our working lives and we were moved in different directions, cities and sadly we were no longer in touch. My memories of Julius are from his teens and frankly I like to remember him that way. John and Ursula Janiga.
