Family History

In the three years I have been researching my family's genealogy, I happened across Leslie Manion's Linked-in file. From there I was reconnected to Norma, Leslie & Dave. My research took me back to Ontario last summer and a wonderful week getting reacquainted with them & Brockville. Having been raised in Hudson Quebec, we were never too far away from the Manion's in Montreal and all of my family remembers their visits vividly. Norma & I have shared regular "McArthur family" chats over the past year discussing our sketchy list of ancestors and I would scribble every detail down. At every opportunity I would nudge Norma for more memory recall and after a chuckle she would throw out another gem providing me with yet another direction to pursue. Her ability to recall minute details was remarkable and she would keep a pen & pad handy for when other relevant memories would pop up. It was her incredible family recall that allowed me to find my father's sister's kids. I hadn't seen them in about 50 years. Two are here in Alberta & one in Texas. My dad was very fond of Norma. They saw a lot of each other as Norma & dad's sister, Lillian, were best friends. Dad also had a special place in his heart for Leslie. I was very pleased that Norma did get to talk to Lillian's kids this year. It was special for them and I am sure for her as well. Norma has been the family focus for the last year & greatly responsible for bringing us all together. I miss her very much.
