Obituary for Bill Skelton

~~~~~~~~~~~
Entered into rest Feb.22nd at BGH following a prolonged battle with CHF. Bill leaves behind his forever girl, Doreen Louise (Manion) after 66 years of marriage, his children Cathy Edwards (Randy), Jennifer Skelton (Laughlin), Judy Skelton (Shawn), Kenny Skelton (Taz) and a son Daniel.
Bill treasured his grandchildren; Maggie Graves (Jeremy Morrow), Jodi Barham (Jonathan), Katie Wick (Bre), Lana Ostrom, William Barrows (Jill Turnbull), Chloe Skelton (Elliot Barkley). Finally his great grandchildren whom he loved without measure; Jason Wick, Luke and Lyla Graves, Ashlynn and Bauer Woods, Summer Wansbrough, and a highly anticipated baby Barkley due this spring. Bill was a much loved brother to Edward Skelton (Patricia), and a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill also leaves behind his lifelong friend William Mitchell (Delrena, deceased). Preceded in death by his parents William Henry Skelton and Ivy Ann (Weeks), his sisters Shirley Onland, Dodi Gardiner and Nancy James. and his cherished dog, Mabee.
November 30th, 1936, in Brockville, Bill was born to unsuspecting parents and hospital staff weighing just over 2 pounds. That wee lad continued to live (and seldom left, if he could help it) in the area his entire life. A former member of the Legion and the Brockville Rifles, he enjoyed fishing, playing pool, flying model planes with his son, Kenny, and was an avid golfer following his retirement after 38 years with Phillip's Cables. The rock of his family, Bill was a clever craftsman of wood, a talented painter, and enjoyed a nice bottle of Scotch. He was the life of the party in any room and kept his sense of humour till the end. His laughter and sense of fun will live on and be dearly missed.
The family wish to thank the staff of the I.C.U, and first floor at BGH for their incredible efforts and kindness.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated and the family will host a celebration of life at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 96, 180 Park Street, Brockville on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 1-3 pm.
Donations to the Do It For Aaron Foundation (difafoundation.ca/donations) will be gratefully acknowledged.
