It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my father William Truscott Brown, after a very brief illness at Brockville General Hospital.
Predeceased by parents William and Jeannie Brown, brother-in-law Ian and sister Helen, his beloved wife of 35 years Marilyn (2012), step-son Perry (2010), and son William John (2017) whose passing broke his heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Michaela McLeod, Grandsons: Duncan(Emilie), Hayden(Chantelle), Bracken(Kris), and Kynan. Great grandchildren; Rowen and Rennah Step-sons Tim Brown(Linda) and Scotty Brown. Step-grandchildren Zachary(Dezere) and Bobby-Lyn. Step-great-grandchildren: Maverick and Madeline and Jordan and Devon. In Great Britain, he is survived by his big brother Murray Brown(Eileen), and his wee sister Norma Davidson(Eric), and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Also, mourning his loss is his dear friend, Chris McIntosh whom he loved like a daughter, her husband Tom, and their daughter Emma.
He had a distinguished career as a Chief-Marine Engineer with Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), and Ontario Northland. Completing more than 40 years in the shipping industry. In his retirement he taught marine engineering at Georgian College for several years. He spent his last chapter sailing on the St. Lawrence River and living in Brockville with his “bosom buddy" Cynthia Marshall, who will dearly miss his antics and lively conversation. He was an avid sailor (always happiest on a boat), a fabulous pianist, a terrific cook, and a gifted storyteller with impeccable comic timing.
We have truly lost a piece of sunshine, a huge source of wisdom, and a true gentleman.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of life will be held on April 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, Maitland Ontario.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of one's choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
