Passed away peacefully at the St. Lawrence Lodge on Saturday, May 29, 2021. Wilhelmina (DeGroot) Swarts, at the age of 92 years. Dear mother of Henry Hannewyk and grandmother to Justin, Marisa, McKenzie Hannewyk and Katrina McDonald. Also survived by her three great grandchildren and by her sisters Nellie VanDyk (Gary) and Johanna Henry. Wilma was predeceased by her husband Addo and by her siblings Gerrit DeGroot, Margaret Heatherington and Hendrika Hoogendam.

Friends will be received at Irvine Memorial Chapel, 2451 County Rd. 15, Maitland on Thursday June 3rd from 11am to 12 o'clock followed by a funeral service in the Chapel. Covid protocols will be in effect with registration required for visitation. Please call the funeral home to reserve a visitation time or RSVP online. Due to COVID limitations, the funeral service (after visitation) will be attended by family only. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Bethel Christian Reformed Church will be gratefully acknowledged. Send condolences or make a donation online at

Although it has been over 15 years since we moved from Brockville, I still keep up with the local news.
