Obituary for Wanda Ruth Ritchie (Bernard)

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister on Saturday February 13, 2021, at Brockville General Hospital in Brockville Ontario. Beloved wife of Richard Parsley. Wanda will be lovingly remembered by her children Amanda Ritchie, Craig Ritchie, Duncan Forbes (Brittany) Rich Parsley (Donna Highmore), Troy Parsley (Tina Steinke) and Kyle Parsley. Fondly remembered by her nine grandchildren that adored her and siblings Rick Bernard, Roger Bernard (Mary Teresa), Karen Schipper (Rob), Kevin Bernard (Jean) and Millie Bernard. Wanda was predeceased by her parents Orville and Reta Bernard.
Wanda was a long-time employee at Zellers that you could often hear across the store and touched the lives of many fellow employees as well as frequent shoppers. She was involved in baseball throughout most of her life, as a player well known for her side arm and then as the mom who was at every game. Wanda enjoyed to knit and crochet and many grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews have enjoyed the sweaters and blankets she has made.
Nothing gave Wanda greater pleasure than being around her family, from cottages to family vacations to trips all over for tournament to Sunday football to her favorite pastime of watching the grandchildren play in the pool, her family meant everything to her. She will be greatly missed by all.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday, February 19th from 1 pm until 2:30 pm.
Covid protocols will be in effect with a limited number of registered guests in attendance at scheduled times. To register for the visitation please RSVP online or call 613-342-2828.
A private ceremony celebrating Wanda's life will be held in the Chapel. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in the summer of 2021.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Cancer Centre of South Eastern Ontario will be gratefully acknowledged.
