Obituary for Ronald Harold Gardiner

Passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital, Garden Street Site on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. Ronald Harold Gardiner owned and operated Gardiner's Smoke Shop both on King Street and in the Brockville Shopping Centre for many years.

Beloved husband of the late Iris (nee Helmer), who predeceased him September 30, 2010. Brother-in-law of Joan Burns (Bob), Sharon Manley (Phillip deceased), Gary Helmer (Heather), Ron Helmer (Jean) and Don Helmer (Peggy). Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews including Keith and Kim McCrae, Joe and Jim Manley, Al and Roberta Peters, Wendy Onstein, Angela Barton, Kerri and Lori Helmer, as well as several great nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by his longtime friend Jane Mitton. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Helen Gardiner.

A special thank you to Dr. Hay, Dr. Au, Dr. Sharma, Carrie Seguin; and the BGH Palliative Care Unit. Ron was very active in his community including Wall Street United Church, Brockville Lions Club (Lions Music Festival and Lions Steel Drum Band) and Our Kenyan Kids.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Sunday, October 4th from 1 until 4 pm. A ceremony celebrating Ron's life will be held on Monday, October 5th at 1 o'clock at Wall Street United Church, 5 Wall Street, Brockville. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.

Covid protocols will be required for all guests attending and pre-registering your attendance is suggested.
