Mr. Hardy was my grade 8 homeroom teacher. I can echo the comments already posted by many former students. I too always remember his sense of humour, and his inspiration for me to enter the field of education, I can see he inspired many former students to become teachers. I can still see his white buckskin shoes and wide white leather belt, which he thought was so cool at the time. ;-) So many stories and memories from my time in his classroom. I knit him a winter scarf which he wore a lot, and years later when I visited him he was still wearing it but it was wearing out, so I knit him a new one. I hope he enjoyed them. He was a great teacher and caring human being. I remember one time the class had behaved badly for some reason, and he calmly sat at the front of the class and said in a heartfelt manner that he was disappointed in us. The whole class felt terrible, that's how much he meant to us. He will be greatly missed and, more importantly, greatly remembered. I think of him often. Debbie Anderson

Bonnie, I am so sorry to hear this. Roger and I shared the same familial kidney disease, and we talked briefly a few times. A lovely man, and a great couple. Betsy Heately

Unfortunately, I did not have the privilege of knowing Roger very long but my brief exposure quickly revealed what a tremendous person he was. His sense of humour and love for Bonnie is an inspiration. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
