Obituary for Pauline Phyllis Marshall (Lisson)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pauline Marshall (Lisson), passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at age 103. Beloved wife of the late John Marshall. Cherished mother of Alice Maggio. Loving grandmother of Cathy Howley (Neil), Shelley Sparks (George), Steven Marshall and John Marshall (Jessica), and great-grandmother to Levi, Domenica, Isabella, and Anthony Howley, Malcolm Marshall, Siena, and Sayge Sparks and Mother-in-Law to Marion Marshall. Predeceased by her son Clarence; son-in-law Joe Maggio and three sisters. Fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pauline, of Pauline's Lingerie, will be forever remembered as an icon in our community, a lady ahead of her time! She was an inspiration to many. Born in Sussex, NB, she never lost her love of the Maritimes and returned many times to visit family and friends, and she shared her memories and experiences with all. She is frequently and fondly recalled as "the lady who sold me my first bra in her Walker's days". She learned her craft there, and took it with her to her own business, opening Pauline's in 1975 when women didn't do those things!
She is legendary in her profession, and spent her career and her retirement doing what she loved! Pauline lived a rich and blessed life, with family and many friends, in good health for all of it! She shared her talents, knowledge, stories, memories, and love and we are better for having had her in our lives. She made the greatest donuts, sugar cookies, shortbread cookies, hamburger soup, and then ate some of the strangest things, "to save its life". Never one to waste, always one to save things for good, she had values that she lived by her whole life and passed on in her legacy.
Her age was the best kept of all her secrets, until she turned 100, and wowed nearly everyone! She was ageless, timeless, and truly a lady, always poised and well dressed, and she firmly believed that a solid handshake was worth more than words! This remarkable lady will forever be in our memories and never far from our hearts!
We wish to thank special friend Myla Lynch and Ginger for her care and love of Pauline the past three years, and the many wonderful PSWs from Care Partners and Bayshore, for their exceptional care as well.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville. on Monday, June 29th from 2-5 pm. Standard Covid-19 distancing protocols will be in place for those attending.
A private service celebrating Pauline's life will be held on Tuesday, June 30th. Following the Covid 19 restrictions, a public reception will be planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care, the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Montreal or charity of your choice will be gratefully accepted.
