Obituary

~~~~~~~~~~~
Born Capetown, South Africa, July 8, 1938
(Retired Brockville Fire Fighter 1998)
The Lord reached down from above and took my precious Paul's hand March 22, 2020. Entered into rest peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital with his beloved wife Brenda (Parish) of 38 years at his side. Paul is cherished by his Godson Clint VanAswegen (Susie) and grandpa to Liam, Catlyn and Tristen VanAswegen of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Uncle of Enrico Fourie, Thabo and Misu of South Africa. Sadly missed by Paul's mother-in-law Rita Parish who adored him and his singing. Paul is predeceased by his brother Leonard Less who passed at 3 years old, father Lionel Less who passed on Paul's 7th Birthday, mother Josephine Less (Paulse) who passed when Paul was 11 years old, grandparents Wilamina and Henry Daniels, sister Ruth Naomi Fourie of Capetown 2014, son of Paul and Brenda; Jodie Less 1991, and little brother Casey Birtch 2014 from Big Brother Little Brothers Association.
A private family service will be held at the Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn in Maitland. In light of the current COVID - 19 situation, a public celebration of Paul's life and Fireman's Honours will be planned at a later date.
Brenda, Deborah and I were very sorry to hear about Paul's funeral. He was a fine singer. I had the pleasure of accompanying him many times. He graced St. Paul's when I was organist there 35 years ago and many other churches and events since. May God's peace be with you.
Dear Brenda,
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I only knew of him on a professional basis but he definitely made a great impression! What a kind, gentle man with many intriguing stories and I wish I would have known him outside of work! His love for you was evident I hope the love you had will carry you through this difficult time. Thinking of you, sincerely Bonnie Hammerli
Brenda I just wanted to give you my deepest condolences and tell you I watched the service and you gave such a beautiful and loving tribute to Paul. I was always moved so deeply when Paul would sing in church. We all will sadly miss Paul very much at Christ United! I loved it when he would share a childhood memory during coffee hour! He definitely was a talented singer and beautiful soul and I take some comfort that he’s in heaven reuniting with his family that went before him and reaping all the rich rewards from living a living a life of faith. During this crazy time my heart goes out to you Brenda and I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts.
With many warm Blessings
Willie and LeeAnn Irwin (aka the lady with the little brown dachshund who comes to church)
