Obituary for Laura Pomerleau

Passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022. Laura Jean (Genereux) Pomerleau, at the age of 64 years. Beloved wife of Louis Pomerleau and cherished mother of Natalie Lise. Loving grandmother of Zoe and Aiden. Dear Sister to Katherine Sieben, Mona Foreman, Mary Genereux and Jason Genereux. Predeceased by her parent Claire Marie (Arsenault) and Gerald Donald Genereux.
Laura grew up in the prairies and lived in many cities before moving to Toronto to study engineering where she was one of only two women in her class. She met and fell in love with her husband Louis. They married while in university and were blessed with their only child, Natalie, in 1981. After graduation, the family moved to Brockville and Laura worked for a few local businesses culminating with employment at Shell Canada for 25+ years until her retirement in 2018.
Laura was a kind, happy person whose positive outlook was infectious to those around her, she enjoyed living a full life. She had many interests, including travel, whether she was backpacking across Europe in her youth, living in China with her family for a year or skydiving in South Africa during a work stint, she loved to sprinkle the stability of family with a little adventure.
She was passionate about live music and went to hundreds of concerts with Louis and friends. Her culinary talents were renowned and she enjoyed baking delicious desserts while doing her favourite thing, which was spending time with family and friends, enjoying the simple pleasures of spoiling her loved ones with wonderful food while they spent time together at the family cottage. Her daughter and grandchildren, Zoe and Aiden were her pride and joy.
She will be sorely missed.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 1 - 3 pm. A Funeral Liturgy will take place in the chapel at 3 pm followed by a reception. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brockville General Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Program. will be gratefully acknowledged.
