Obituary for Joseph Ernest Newell (Newell)

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Ernest Newell (Joe), age 59, announce his sudden passing on Tuesday July 28, 2020. He is lovingly remembered by his three daughters Zoe, Shelby and Elly Newell, by his mother Florence Flanigan Newell, by his siblings Steven Mark Newell, Annie Newell-Glynn, Lanny Newell (Marla) and his sister-in-law Judy Newell Macdonald (Mike). By his nieces and nephews Jason, Kerri, Chrissy Macdonald, Benjamin (Rachel, Grayson), Megan Glynn and Amanda Newell. Pre-deceased by his fathers Derek Joseph Flanigan and George Judson Newell and by his brother Jeffrey Derek Newell.

Joe was a devoted father, son, brother and friend. In his early years Joe was a well-respected boat racer competing throughout North America. He was a world traveler, an avid boater, skier and golfer. At the time of his passing he was an active travel agent assisting missionary teams around the globe. Joe made it his mission in life to help everyone he met, to love unconditionally and to fight for young people to have a relationship with Jesus. Joe was actively involved as a Christian missionary in El Salvador and as a Children’s Pastor at Highway Pentecostal Church.

A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday August 4th from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday August 5th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The funeral service will follow at 12:30pm. Both visitations and service will be held at Highway Pentecostal Church, 800 Stewart Blvd. Brockville ON. Covid protocols will be in place including the wearing of a mask. There will be a private family interment immediately following. Pastor Rick Lott will officiate the service. If desired, friends may send condolences or memorial contributions to Scott and Melissa Williams with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada as they continue their missionary work in Spain. These can be sent to Irvine Funeral Home. Flowers may be offered at Highway Pentecostal Church on Tuesday August 4th from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

It is with grateful hearts that we extend our sincere appreciation for the love and support extended to our family at this time. Your kind words and happy memories have lifted us all. Joe will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all that knew him.

Send a message of condolance or share a special thought of Joe on the Memory Wall above.
