With broken hearts, we announce the death of Joe McKeown, on Thursday, July 25, while vacationing with his beloved family in Prince Edward Island. He was 76 years old.
Predeceased by his parents, John and Kathleen McKeown and siblings Marion McKenna, Alice McKeown, Ralph McKeown, Theresa Smart, Jack McKeown. He is survived by sister Patricia Proderick.
A much loved and loving husband of 53 years to Micheline (Lalonde). Unconditionally loving and proud father to John and his wife Judy McKeown, Alison and her husband Alex Volonte, Elizabeth and her husband Matt Smith, Doug McKeown, Emily and her husband Grant Sonier and Marc and his wife, Louise Deault.
Joe was happiest in the company of his beloved grandchildren, Brooke, Mckenzie, Casey, Abigael, Olivia, Isaac, Annie, Ben, Madeleine, Jack, Ellie, Henry, Charlie and Rory. He will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was known for his warmth, wit and generous spirit. His love of babies was legendary. He loved all sports but none more than golf. Joe’s perfect day was reading his morning newspapers, solving crossword puzzles and a round of golf at the Brockville Country Club. He was a special man who will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Wednesday July 31st from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.The Liturgy of the Christian Funeral will be celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church on Thursday at 10 am. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care or Loaves and Fishes will be gratefully acknowledged.
