Obituary for Fred Wilson

~~~~~~~~~~~
James Frederick Wilson of Brockville, Ontario, born August 4th, 1944, passed away on September 1st, 2022. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Margaret and Clayton Wilson, brother Clayton Wilson, and niece Cynthia Giguere (Wilson). He is survived by his spouse, Nancie Newcombe, whom he loved dearly, Patricia Whiteman (Feltmate), sons Matthew Wilson and Jeremy Wilson, niece Pamela Wilson-McCormick, and nephew Ken Wilson.
He was a loving father and a dedicated teacher who loved his students as much as he loved his own kids, which was evident as one would walk down the street with him as see him greet former students by name. He taught at Westminster Public School, Lyn Public School, and the Brockville Jail Young Offenders Unit. He highly valued education and hard work and passed those values on to his children, being a dedicated family man. He was likewise a dedicated Lion's Club member, collecting many awards which included the President's Award for Outstanding Leadership, the Melvin Jones Fellow for Dedicated Humanitarian Services, and the Helen Keller Fellowship. He enjoyed singing, dancing, and socializing, and it was impossible to go for a quick run to the store with him, as he would always see, greet, and talk with people he knew. He enjoyed the outdoors, being an avid fisherman and also hunting back in the day. Gardening was also one of his passions, which is evident to all who passed by the house. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Wall Street United Church, 5 Wall Street, Brockville, at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 7th, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Lion's Club.
