Hans Doornberg passed away peacefully at Wedgewood Retirement Home on December 16th 2020.
Hans was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on November 30th 1925 the eldest of the 2 children of Rene George Cornelis Doornberg and Anna Maria Tieben. He is predeceased by his parents and younger sister Magda.

Hans immigrated to Maitland, ON, Canada in 1955 with his parents and sister. In Canada, Hans met and married his wife Reina (nee Horst) in 1962. They have been married for 58 years and resided in Maitland, ON, taking pride in their riverside property before moving to The Wedgewood Retirement home in 2015.
Hans had many interests and hobbies including; Ham Radio Operator, electronics, photography, sailing, boat building and reading/studying a wide array of subjects. He was always ready with many stories resulting from these activities.

During his working life, Hans was employed by RCA Victor Company and Dupont Canada Inc. in the Brockville area before retiring in 1985.

Hans and Reina particularly enjoyed their involvement in the Thousand Islands Germanica Club and caring for their pets, Sasha (dog) and Suki (cat). They also enjoyed and cherished their travels together to destinations including Canada, USA, South Africa and Holland.

A private, invitation-only ceremony and celebration of life is being planned in the Maitland area.
