My deepest condolences to the Welch family. Gus was a loving, caring, thoughtful special friend to my dad Joe. Together they had many happy times and adventures. She truly made the last years of his life some of the best. May their paths cross in heaven.

I met Gus when I began working at North Edwardsburgh School in Shanly. She had a quick smile and wonderful patience with her students. Her family were her pride and joy. Russell and I send our condolences to all of the family as you say goodbye to a very special lady.

We were saddened to learn of Gus' death. Gus was a force to be reckoned with. She was a strong, caring, loving lady. I will remember her as an excellent teacher who loved her students and guided them with fairness, expertise, patience, kindness and creativity. Gus also loved her family fiercely. She and George always worked as a team and loved their boys and grandchildren unconditionally. Gus will be remembered for her humourous stories, love of life and ability to stike up a conversation with everyone she met along the way. Gus gave me some perennials over fourty years ago, and every year when our pink phlox peep through the earth and eventually bloom, I think of Gus. She was loved and has provided each of us with memories to treasure. Joyce and Doug Millard

I taught across the hall from Gus at North Edwardsburg P.S. in Shanley. I don't think I remember any teacher with a softer, kinder voice when working with children. I met up with Gus again years later when I was teaching her granddaughter, Kayla. Gus was the kindest, most heart warming and supportive grandmother. My condolences to the family. Gus will be missed.
