George Winford Galbraith died at the age of 84 on May 2, 2023, in Brockville, Ontario, Canada. George was born on May 28, 1938, in Cardinal, Ontario, to Gerald and Ida Belle Galbraith (nee Harper), and was later fostered by Eldon (Tom) Baker and Gertrude Baker.
George graduated from Smiths Falls District Collegiate in Smiths Falls, Ontario, and went on to work for Dupont Canada, Fraser Brace, Queens University, St. Lawrence College, Kingston, and Ross Laboratories.
George is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara (nee Jordan), and their daughters, Kim Findlay (Ritchard) and Kathy Eyre (John). He is also survived by his grandsons, Ryan Eyre (Charisa) and Jason Eyre (Shelby), Matthew and Jacob Findlay, and great-grandchildren, Landen and Emery. George is also survived by his siblings, Gerald Galbraith, Doris Shepherd, and Lorraine Oderkirk.
George was an active church member of Centennial Road Church of Brockville, Ontario. He was a loving husband, father, and helping friend to many. George was predeceased by his parents, foster parents, and siblings, Carl (Dianne), Roger (Pat), and Joyce (Al) Mather.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland, Ontario on Thursday, May 11, 2023. A brief graveside interment will take place at 11 am followed by a service and celebration of life from 11:30 AM to 1 PM in the Roselawn Reception Centre.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Centennial Road Church or the Alzheimer Society of Canada will be gratefully acknowledged.
