SERVICE DETAILS UPDATED BELOW

Frederick Earle Allport
He was a Good Guy!

It is with heavy hearts and the joy of his long and generous life, we share the news of Fred’s death on Thursday, August 25, 2022, surrounded by the love of family.

Devoted husband of Pat, father to Doug (Rose Mary) and Penny (John), special grandpa to Natalie, Freddy, Johnathan and Sean, great grandpa to Jacob, brother to Beryl Allport and Kathy Weedmark, brother-in-law to Susan Rance and Mike Thomas, uncle to many nieces and nephews and a loyal friend to many, Fred has left us with hearts full of memories and stories.

Proud of his roots in “The Gower,” Fred will be remembered for his infectious smile, mischievous and upbeat character, an avid card player and storyteller with a keen sense of humour. He was a man known for fixing things that couldn’t be fixed, and could be found in his fully equipped workshop repairing things for neighbours, family and friends alike. If he couldn’t fix it, he made a new one.

A long time and faithful member of St. James Anglican Church, MERC and as a Kinsmen, Fred’s influence was key to Maitland’s baseball diamond and Hall being built. He was a thoughtful and community minded man who could always be counted on to show up in times of need.

Fred’s happy place was the family cottage, hiking in nature, listening to C&W and tinkering for hours. He loved woodcutting with his buddies and soaking up the heat and comfort of his woodstove.

Fred would say “you can never have too many friends,” and to all of you who count yourselves as one of his, thank you from Fred!
