Obituary

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frederick Harlow Edwards, entered into rest at Brockville General Hospital (Charles St). Born October 13, 1929 to Sunday, March 29th, 2020. Dearly beloved husband of Shirley (Cowan) Edwards; cherished Father to Peter Edwards (Natalie); Sandra Edwards; Cyndi Edwards (Gary); Perry Edwards (Kae); Robin Edwards. Dearly loved by stepdaughters Laurie Matthie (Steve); Linda Lee Murphy. Special Poppa to Tracey, Emily, Meredith and Shelby; Danielle and Brigitte; Christopher, Amy and Paige; Harry and Jack; Leira; James, Jeffrey, Jennie and Jason; Jerry and Julia. Proud Great-Grandfather to Gwendolynn; Eddy; Will, Alex and Ben; Lucas; and soon to be Sophia. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Deanna Edwards, and brother-in-law's John Cowan (Gloria) and Randy Craig. Predeceased by parents Harry and Jessie (Carley) Edwards of Brockville and brothers Harry and Victor Edwards of Ottawa.
Fred was well known for his passion for sports, especially hockey, and was an enthusiastic and vocal fan. He was a very determined and competitive athlete who played football and basketball for BCI and also enjoyed golfing, curling and boating on the St Lawrence River. Later in life he mastered a variety of electronics, from his cell phone to his bountiful array of viewing devices, he often wowed us with his technical prowess. He loved nothing more than listening to his family share their stories and laughter, as long as the game wasn't on! His soft heart and love for his family will be sorely missed but he will always be in our hearts and minds.
Due to the current global crisis, a Celebration of Life will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Maitland; at a later date to be announced by the family.
In memory of Fred, donations would be gratefully acknowledged by the family to Brockville General Hospital Foundation Palliative Care or to Leeds and Grenville S.P.C.A. See details below
Dear Shirley and families
So sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. I had the pleasure of being his hairstylist for many years. I always looked forward to him and Shirley coming in for their monthly trims. We always had lots to chat about, his hair of course, and always had a new feature to show me on his phone. I was always impressed that he knew more about technology then I did. He will surely be missed by his family. My condolences to everyone
Deepest condolences to the Edwards Family. Over the years I was fortunate to have times to share a short chat, in particular on his and Shirley's Christmas Eve Visits with their friends in Maitland. Now is the time to cherish the memories of the good times.
Rest in Peace Fred.
