Obituary for Eleanor Bayles

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On March 2, 2023, Eleanor Jean (Shelley) Bayles went home peacefully to be with her Lord at the age of 89, surrounded by her family at home.
Born in Euclid, Ohio, Eleanor earned her B.A. in Education at Taylor University. She wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity to teach in Indiana, Massachusetts, and Ontario, where she also was a librarian. Eleanor first met Bob in September of 1958 at the Moody Bible Institute Bookstore, where it was definitely love at first sight for Bob. The two continued on as best friends and partners for over 62 years of marriage, with Eleanor always making sure they sprinkled in fun.
Eleanor joyfully supported her husband as a pastor’s wife, both during his education and in his ministry. Together, Bob and Eleanor served others in prayer ministry for the healing of emotions. You could most often catch Eleanor enjoying flower arranging, hosting friends and family, doing crafts, reading and walking. She is dearly remembered by her grandchildren for her famous “toy closet”, homemade popsicles, deviled eggs, kleenex up her sleeve, the game of Sequence, and an extraordinary passion for chocolate ice cream. Her hospitable personality shone brightly with kindness, sweetness, and joy to all who knew her.
Eleanor is survived by her beloved husband, the Rev. Robert Bayles. She is a cherished mother to Bill Bayles and his wife Karen, Robert Bayles and his fiancé Grace Rishell, and Daniel Bayles; admired by her eight grandchildren and their spouses, Maria (Bayles) Drake and her husband Jon, Chelsea (Bayles) Wilson and her husband Elijah, Sebastian Bayles, Zachary Bayles and his partner Shawna Cummings, Sophia Bayles, Elisa Bayles, Jackson Bayles, and Eric Bayles; enjoyed by her adopted grand-godchild Mitchel Wilson, adored by her first great-grandson Kadin Drake; admired by her sister-in-law and friend Betty Hess. Eleanor was greatly appreciated by extended family, Cindy Bayles and Rebecca Bayles, and she was predeceased by her nephew, Chuck Hess, sister Anne, and by her parents, Mildred and Louis Shelley.
Eleanor and her family are extremely grateful for the spiritual support and encouragement from The Centennial Road Church and Wall Street United Church as well as their many cherished friends both new and old. The palliative care Eleanor received at home was exemplary thanks to team members, now like family, from Home Street Family Practice, CarePartners, Bayshore Home Care Solutions, and SE Health.
The viewing hours will be held in the Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, located at 2451 County Road 15, Maitland, Ontario, K0E 1P0 on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. and from 6:00-7:30 p.m. A service in honour and celebration of Eleanor's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception.
As expressions of sympathy, donations for Melanoma Canada, will be gratefully acknowledged on her memorial page found here: https://melanomanetwork.crowdchange.ca/29311.
