Obituary for Elaine Shanks

ELAINE SCOBIE (McCREDIE) SHANKS
Passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on September 24, 2020 at the age of 93 years. Elaine was born on February 16, 1927 in Smiths Falls to the late James Harvey and Agatha McCredie. James and Agatha were long term proprietors of The Scobie House Hotel and Golf Course in Norway Bay, Quebec, where Elaine spent many summers working. She was an avid golfer being one of the first female members of the Brockville Country Club Board of Directors. As well, she was very instrumental in getting the recycling program started in Brockville.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband John B. (Jack) Shanks and by her brothers Clayton and Caldwell McCredie. She is survived by her daughters Linda Shanks, Jill MacLean (Doug) and Wendy Shanks (Brian Paul). Cherished grandmother of James and Ben Wong; Clark and MacKenzie Maclean and Morgan and Eliza Paul. Sadly missed by her brother-in-law Art Shanks and by her nieces and nephews Lynne (McCredie) Clinton, Gail (McCredie) Lunney, James (Jim) McCredie, Tim, John, Mark and Rob Shanks.
A private family service and interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Brockville.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit would be gratefully acknowledged.
