Passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on September 24, 2020 at the age of 93 years. Elaine was born on February 16, 1927 in Smiths Falls to the late James Harvey and Agatha McCredie. As well, she was very instrumental in getting the recycling program started in Brockville.

Elaine was predeceased by her husband John B. (Jack) Shanks and by her brothers Clayton and Caldwell McCredie. She is survived by her daughters Linda Shanks, Jill MacLean (Doug) and Wendy Shanks (Brian Paul). Cherished grandmother of James and Ben Wong; Clark and MacKenzie Maclean and Morgan and Eliza Paul. Sadly missed by her brother-in-law Art Shanks and by her nieces and nephews Lynne (McCredie) Clinton, Gail (McCredie) Lunney, James (Jim) McCredie, Tim, John, Mark and Rob Shanks.

I loved your mom......she was one of my moms closest friends! My heartfelt sympathies to your entire family. This story may seem slightly inappropriate now but I will NEVER forget it. I was at a bonspiel in Ottawa with your mom and she and I were walking along Bank Street. We were both smokers at the time and wanted a cigarette........” your mom to me” Kelly a lady never smokes and walks! I said okay later....but she immediately took off her fur coat and proceeded to lay it on the curb so we could sit and have a cigarette! ☺️ She was all class and I mean that in the most sincere way!
My mom passed recently.......hopefully they are smiling and laughing together!
