Obituary for Eileen Joan Haupt

Eileen Joan Haupt (nee Chalifour) passed away on October 30th 2020 at the age of 90. She was born in Montreal but spent her formative years in Arvida. She returned to Montreal in her teens and subsequently married and had 4 children: Bryant, Norman, James and Alison. When her kids were a little older she volunteered at the Rehabilitation Centre of Montreal, where she headed up the recreational activities taking youth to the circus and arranging movie nights! She worked at General Aviation for a number of years and at one point she owned a dress shop and named it ‘Nini’ Haupt (as she was affectionately known by many). She made Brockville her home in the late 70s. She and her late husband Caspar ran a bed and breakfast Gosford Place from 1990 to 1998. Nini had a natural warmth and was known for her entertaining, cooking, baking and welcoming many into her home and her life! She was also known for being a straight shooter speaking her mind freely! We were all very blessed as kids, grandkids and great grandkids to have Grandma Nini in our lives! We will miss her dearly but she is with her ‘Precious’ Caspar now.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ashe who always took good care of our mom! Thanks as well to the kind staff at The Royal Brock and Chartwell Rosedale for looking after our mom.
A private family service will be held.
