Obituary

Donna Lorraine (Buchanan) Beatty entered into rest peacefully at Brockville General Hospital, Garden Street site on June 30. Born in Bigger, Saskatchewan in 1926, Donna moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Manitoba and married Stewart Beatty. In 1952 they headed east and Brockville became home. It is here they raised their family, built a business, and became invested in the Brockville community.

Donna’s life focus was her family and she was the heart center. Her unconditional love and numerous quiet acts of care will be treasured. She was a loyal friend to many and a generous contributor of her time and resources in the community.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Stewart in 2011. She is survived by her daughter Donna-Mae (John Siderius), son David (Anne). She is Nan to five grandchildren: Hilary, Heather, Kevin, Carolyn, Ian and Great Nan to five: Hunter, Madison, Brooklyn, Trevor and Elyse.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at St. Lawrence Anglican Church on Thursday August 1, 2019 at 1 PM with a reception in the Parish Hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully received by St. Lawrence Anglican Church, or the Brockville General Hospital Palliative Care Programme. Arrangements entrusted to Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, Brockville. Send a condolence or share a story on the "memory wall" tab above or place a donation using the tab below the service details.

I was the luckiest little girl in the whole world to have two very special moms in my life. Although I had a great loving home, most of my early memories were of walking across the street to Donna’s house to my second loving home and family, where I even had my own room and a closet full of puzzles and games which I played every day with my 40 year old best friend. We were the perfect match.....her kids were off to university and my siblings took a lot of my mom’s time. Donna even made us matching dresses so that if I ever got lost I just had to say “please find the lady with the same dress as me”. I learned countless life’s lessons from her, she took me to all my haircuts and she even named a cookie after me.
I was fortunate later in life to be able to choose Donna to be my Godmother which sealed our deal. We were official.....something we both knew we already were cuz the heart doesn’t lie. I will miss her every day. I am indebted to her and I treasure every moment we had.

Dave, Anne and the entire Beatty family,
Donna was warm and kind, always quick to make everyone feel special. She had a great sense of humour, and was one of the great listeners---a rare gift these days! In a word, she was delightful. She will be missed, but not forgotten.

David and Anne. Our sympathies to you both on the passing of your mom. A good long and fulfilled life but still I am sure, an emptiness during this time of grieving. We plan to attend the scheduled service and celebration of life next month. Janice and Dave
