Chris passed away peacefully at St. Lawrence Lodge on October 3, 2022, Christopher Terence Pratt, at the age of 89 years, beloved husband of Lynne (Davidson) Pratt and the late Helen Pratt. Loving father of Christopher (Deborah), T. Douglas, Sharon Voskamp (Jeff), Shawna Gemmell (Brendan) and Robert Thornhill (Jennifer). Cherished grandfather of Lana (Nelson), Emily (Christopher), Caitlin (Shaun), Nicholas, Meghan, Madison, Melody, Brittany (Matt), Taylor and Trinady. Fondly remembered by his 7 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Elizabeth Tracey (Tom - deceased), Brother-in-law of Reverend Patsy Henry (Don).
Chris was born in Thetford, England on October 8, 1932 to Terence and Mary (Molly) Pratt and immigrated with his father to Canada in 1951 to set up a home prior to his mother and sister arriving. His family located briefly in Ottawa before making Brockville their forever home.
A true renaissance man, Chris held many positions throughout his working career in both manufacturing and management. He was the owner-operator of three successful service stations in the 1960s and 1970s on King St. in Brockville. He went on to be project manager at Electrolux Canada and a safety contractor at DuPont where he was presented with an award of excellence for exemplary project safety. He concluded his career as a safety consultant at Akwesasne.
After retirement, Chris fulfilled his dream of boating from Brockville to Florida through the inter-coastal waterway. Chris and Lynne spent Winters in warmer climates, returning in the Spring, spending Summers at Gananoque and Prescott marinas.
Chris lived a full and rewarding life and will be remembered by his many friends, colleagues and family as a hard worker, skilled craftsman and a great story- teller. He will be dearly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
In Chris’ honour, a private family celebration of life will be held.
