Obituary for Chris Murphy

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father and grampa. Chris Murphy at the Brockville General Hospital on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in his 72nd year. Loving husband to Carolyn (nee Blair) and devoted father to Wade Murphy (Jason Patterson) and daughter Shannon Murphy-Hum (Chris Hum). Proud grampa to Ethan and Brayden Hum. Chris will be fondly remembered by his sisters Kaye McLellan (Phil) and Ann Moedt (John deceased), sibling-in-law Janet MacLaren (Jack) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William Murphy and Marjorie Dier as well as his siblings Shirley White (Frank survives), Gary Murphy (Betty Anne), Ena Murphy and Connie Noonan (Tom survives) as well as his brother-in-law Jeff Blair (Denise survives).
Chris was a long time employee of the Recorder and Times in advertising. Work was never work for Chris, as every connection he made started with a hello, then a laugh then a lifelong friendship. He was a frequent attendee of Kelsey’s Teeple Tuesdays (as well as other days of the week) when he was guaranteed to share great stories and laughs. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a true family guy. He will live on in our hearts forever.
The Rite of Committal and interment will take place at St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery, Westport (4860 South Frontenac Rd. 8, Tichborne) on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11 am followed by a Celebration of Chris’ life at The Cove Inn, 2 Bedford St., Westport, commencing at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke or CHEO Hospital will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
