Obituary for Charles Owen McDougall (McDougall)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Dr. Charles Owen McDougall at the age of 94. Dr. McDougall entered peacefully into rest on Monday, September 30th at the Brockville General Hospital with family by his side. Beloved husband to the late Dorothy (Stallard) McDougall and dear father to Charles (Diahne), Brant (Susan) and Patti (Jay). He will be greatly missed but will always be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren Ian (Megan), Rebecca and Sean. He is survived by his sister Irene Montgomery and brother in-law John Montgomery. He is predeceased by his three siblings, Violet, Edgar and Gerald. “Mac” will be deeply missed by his very close companion Vivian Thomas and her family. He will be missed but leaves behind many fond memories to his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Dr. McDougall was born in Brockville on September 16, 1925. He attended St. Francis Xavier Public School, Brockville Collegiate Institute and McGill University where he graduated from the school of dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Prescott and Sudbury before he settled down to practice dentistry in Brockville for over 30 years. Dr. McDougall lived life to the fullest and always had a smile for everyone. He loved sports and was an avid cyclist, enjoyed cross country skiing, snowshoeing, walking and took up downhill skiing in his seventies.

Family and relatives are invited to attend the Interment on Friday, October 11th at 10:00 a.m. The service will be held at the Old Protestant and Old St. Francis Xavier Cemetery (south side of highway 2, across from Oakland Cemetery). Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dr. Charles Owen McDougall’s life on Friday, October 11th, from 1:00 to 5:00 at his home. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
