Obituary for Dr. B.C. Ruparelia

With heavy hearts, we regrettably said our final goodbye to our beloved father, Dr. B.C. Ruparelia on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the age of 85 years at the Brockville General Hospital. He was very peaceful and comfortable in his final hours of life.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Jyostna Ruparelia and his two children, Dr. Meera Ruparelia (Nikhil) and Dr. Raj Ruparelia (Amrita) and his 4 grandchildren, Nalina, Shaunak, Ria and Ava. He is predeceased by his parents and all of his seven older siblings.

Dr. B.C. Ruparelia was born in Chalala, India, where he spent only a few months until going to Kampala, Uganda where he spent most of his childhood. He returned to India to attend medical school in Mumbai, where he met Jyotsna. They then had many adventures living in Uganda, the UK, and Ireland before they finally immigrated to Ottawa in 1972. There, he worked as a dedicated, hard-working Obstetrician/Gynecologist at the Ottawa Hospital for over 40 years, always enjoying his line of work to the fullest.

A few years after retiring, he moved to Brockville to be closer to his daughter Meera after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Never letting this diagnosis hinder his determination, he fought back against this disease with tremendous courage and hope.

He will be greatly missed by not only his immediate family, but also by his very close extended family and his ever supportive friends. He will forever remain in our hearts and his memory and legacy will always live on through his children and grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland on Monday, March 28,2022 at 10:30 AM for visitation followed by a funeral ceremony at 12:30 PM.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Parkinson Canada or the Brockville General Hospital will be gratefully acknowledged.
