Obituary for Betty Gardiner

~~~~~~~~~~
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Betty Gardiner announces her passing on Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Oshawa General Hospital. She was in her 98th year. Born on November 14,1925, in Thedford Ontario she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lily Marrison. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Margaret (Rick) Seeley, Barbara (Karl) Field, her grandchildren Adam (Rachel) Field, Marilyn (Keith) Blackburn, Matthew Seeley and great grandchildren Kate, Riley, April and Logan. Much loved aunt to her niece Jane (Harold) Hess and her family as well as her nephews John (Barb) Gardiner and his family and Jamie Gardiner. Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband Gerald and brother-in-law John Gardiner.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed. She had many hobbies including needlepoint, knitting, sewing, gardening, and baking. Betty's love of music led her to become a piano teacher, organist and choir leader; and she loved to go square dancing with her beloved husband Gerald.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brockville General Hospital and Bridlewood Manor for their care thru the years and most recently the staff on the 6th floor of Oshawa General Hospital for their compassion and kindness at this difficult time.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at the Irvine Memorial Chapel, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland on Monday, March 27th at noon in the chapel, followed by the interment and a reception. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be greatly appreciated by the family.
