Bernice Audrey Dafoe (Whiteland)
September 9, 1926 to July 18, 2019


Bernice Audrey Dafoe (Whiteland) passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the Brockville General Hospital on July 18, 2019 in her 93rd year. Bernice was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill (1988) and leaves behind her loved son Don and his wife Nancy of Sarnia Ontario. Bernice was proud of the grandchildren she leaves, Lindsay Marshall (Ethan), Laura Silvestri (Darryl), David, Lesley Laht (Andrew) and Drew (Ruthy). She was so happy to have ten great grandchildren, Pearson, Blythe and Ruby Marshall, Ainsley, Florence and Julien Silvestri, Graham, Ellis, and “one on the way” Laht and Penelope Dafoe.

Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Lora (Chapman) Whiteland, and her in-laws Raymond and Beatrice (DeWolfe) Dafoe. She leaves her older brother Charlie (late wife Jean) and was predeceased by her sisters Gwen Lane (Harry), Shirley Blanchard (George), and brothers Keith (Ella Mae and Sally) and Howard. She leaves many nieces and nephews. She expressed special thanks to her nieces Pat Blanchard and Laura Reilly for their care.

“Ber” will always be remembered for her acting and sense of humour with family along with her skilled writing of poetry. “She should have been in pictures”.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the doctors and nursing staff at both sites of the Brockville Hospitals for their wonderful care in the last week of Bernice’s life.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 31st at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James St. E. Brockville, followed by interment at Oakland Cemetery.
