Obituary for Ann Edwards (James)

~~~~~~~~
Ann Edwards passed away in her 83rd year surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her
husband George. She is survived by her loving daughters Helen & Sharon and her grandchildren Dustan
& Emily.
Ann was born in Cwmaman, Wales, where she was brought up and met her husband George at
College when she was taking a secretarial course. Ann’s first job was at the town hall in Aberdare, Wales.
She then moved to Bristol, where her daughters were born. She was fortunate enough to spend 18
months in the Gibson Desert in Australia, where her husband was working for British Aerospace. In
Australia the family enjoyed many camping adventures in the outback & made lifelong friends.
When the family returned to England they settled in a small village called Clifton, Bedfordshire, where Ann
got a job at her daughter’s school, All Saints Primary as secretary for 10 years. Ann decided with
George to take the plunge in 1986 and move to Canada. Ann travelled extensively around the world,
with George and with friends. Sadly, due to Covid, her last vacation was to Roatan, Honduras with
Sharon & Emily. For 15 years Ann was the Secretary at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Richmond Hill.
Ann retired to Brockville to be close to help care for her granddaughter Emily. Ann really enjoyed doing Tai
chi twice a week in Brockville up until the pandemic. She loved birds, flowers, jigsaws and of course her
crosswords, which she did every day to keep her brain sharp.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel 4 James Street East, Brockville, Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023 from 1-2 pm with a ceremony celebrating Ann’s life commencing at 2 pm in the Chapel.
