Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee at the age of 93. Widow of the late Donald Wendell Barrington. Loving mother of John Marinus Immerseel (Mary Lou), Bryce Donald Barrington (Laura) and Kenneth Edward Barrington (Lori). Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Amy (Jason), Kenneth, Lindsay (Chris), Brad (Andrea), Adam, Shawn (Lisa), Candace, Sarah, Brody (Holly), Connor, Joel, Devin and great-grandchildren Luke, Lynden, Quinn, Riley, Isabella, Caleb, Zach, Miley, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, John and Maria Koorn (nee van Hilten), formerly of Brockville; her sister Hendrika (Cees) of The Netherlands; brothers-in-law, Cees Oomes of The Netherlands, Edward Bryce Barrington (Daisy), James Ivan Barrington (Mildred) and sisters-in-law Margaret Burnham (Elmer), Grace Cole (Louis), and Bessie Dixie (Kenneth).

Born in Utrecht, The Netherlands, she immigrated to Canada in May 1952, residing in Athens and Brockville for sixty years. She was a long-time employee of RCA Victor in Prescott and Automatic Electric (AE Microtel) in Brockville, from which she retired in 1986 and where she developed many friendships. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier and John Bosco Catholic Churches in Brockville and was active for many years after her retirement as a communion minister at both churches and to residents of the St. Lawrence Lodge. She was also an active member of the Legion of Mary, the Catholic Women’s League and the Brothers and Sisters of ‘The Jesus Through Mary Intercessory Prayer Group’ at John Bosco Church. In 2013, she moved to be closer to her family in Napanee and, in 2016, entered the John M. Parrott Centre, where she was lovingly cared for during the remaining five years of her life.

Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date at St. Patrick’s Church in Napanee, with interment at the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Brockville. Memorial donations can be made to The John M. Parrott Centre to support the centre’s Outdoor Community Music Garden project.
