Dear Heather, Diane, Jane and Doug.. I have been thinking of you all and your dad since I heard that his health was failing. I was so sad to get the news that he had passed away. Unfortunately, I was able to relate to the pain and sadness I know you were feeling. It was comforting to know that you had each other and were all there with your dad. He truly was such a lucky man to have had such an amazing family. Uncle Bob was the best uncle anyone could ever have. My memories of him go back long ago. As a youngster we would spend every summer in Ontario, much of that time was spent in Brockville and at the family cottage. I was always so excited to see my cousins and of coarse my uncle Bob. I still remember Bob spending lots of time with us kids, playing games, betting money that he would win, telling so many stories (lots about my dad and the boys getting into trouble), taking Bebe for night walks. I remember his big boat, getting fish and chips and going for an adventure. One trip he took my dad, my friend and I. My friend and I wanted to sleep on the boat but by midnight were frightened by the spiders. Bob and my dad ended up in the boat that night while we enjoyed the hotel room. My dad was a little mad but not Bob- he just joked that we owed him for the room. Later, we would meet again in Florida. My first trip was with my best friends from university. We were in Ft. Lauderdale and went to Ft. Myers to visit. I was proud to introduce my friends to uncle Bob and he showed us a great time. After mom passed away, Bob spent a lot of time with dad. He made a few trips out west and both times Kev , and I and the kids were also there visiting. He was so good to my dad during that time. Dad got to spend those first winters in Florida with his brother who was there for him and watched over him. You were all very good to my dad over the years and I always appreciated that very much. Your dad shared that condo, and the super king sized bed, with our family on several occasions. Our kids loved Florida Bob. He still had the same enthusiasm with the kids as I remembered. We often think back to those holidays, they were the best. Bob had a big personality, loved people, had a heart of gold, was great with all the kids, was a character, was so much fun, loved life, had a zest for life, was some one that if you were lucky enough to have met you would never forget. It is not a surprise that he has such a terrific family. He has instilled all of who he was in each of you. He has given you all so much to remember. I will keep both your dad and my dad together, in my heart forever. Love, Your cousin, Shari
