It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Paul Remillard announces his sudden passing on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the age of 79 years. Jean Paul will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 28 years, Linde and his children J.P. (Tina) and Michelle (Jeff). Jean Paul will also be terribly missed by his 5 grandchildren Ryan, Mackenzie, Liam, Emilie and Karina; his brother George (Jeanine); and sister Yvette (Tom). Jean Paul was predeceased by his brother Roland, sister-in-law Sheila and his parents Louise and Gerard.
Jean Paul served his country for 13 years in Canada’s Royal Navy and 21 years as a Canadian diplomat with External Affairs. In the Navy he was a skilled diver, signalman, instructor and Officer. His years as a diplomat took him to several high-risk global postings, and a two-year stay in Africa with his family and four years in Japan with Linde. He loved his sports and was an outstanding athlete, excelling at hockey and softball.
Jean Paul was a beloved member of his community and focused on and enjoyed helping people. He was particularly active and inspirational in local groups that included international fellowship.
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Mass and celebration of Jean Paul’s life will be held at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, 2 Front St., Rockport on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Diabetes Canada or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
